JTrue Riches Are in the Glory

It has become such an embarrassment to the body of Christ that we associate God's wealth by the world's standards. It's a shameful thing to promote a prosperity gospel that falsely teaches that the sign of God's blessing is newer cars, bigger houses, or $1,000 suits. In no way am I saying that our elaborate God will not lavish wonderful gifts on His children that are manifested in material wealth. I believe that God wants wealth in the hands of every believer who is called according to His purpose -- evangelizing the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Because prosperity is such an important aspect of the believer's life according to the Word of God we must be baptized in a fresh/true revelation of kingdom wealth. Let me share this heavenly view of true wealth from the longest run-on sentence I've been able to find in the whole of the bible found in Paul's epistle to the Ephesians.

Ephesians 1:15-23
15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.

For starters, Paul makes it clear that God's standard of riches is so different from ours that we're never going to even understand what it is that God wants to bless us with without "the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him" (v.17) Our "eyes of UNDERSTANDING" (not vision) must be enlightened so we will be able to comprehend what His hope is for us who are in Christ (v.18).

Every description of these "riches" that follows is described in terms of POWER not money! As believers we should walk in the knowledge and demonstration of the exceeding greatness of his power. Jesus has all things under his feet and in his name we can trample on snakes and scorpions. In Jesus name we shall cast out devils, speak in new tongues, take up serpents, and if we drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt us, and we shall lay our hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mk 16:17-19).

Paul told the Colossians that the mystery which was hidden from ages and from generations but now is made manifest to the saints is that God has made known "what is the riches of the glory...which is Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Col. 1:26-27).

When man fell in the Garden he didn't lose his possessions, he lost God's glory. "For all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory" (Rom. 3:23). The perfect life of Christ that was fulfilled by his death on the cross was so that we might once again be united with the Father's glory! The veil in the temple was not rent so we might name and claim a new Mercedes! If this were the case then Matthew 27:51-52 would read "And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; and the greatest of earth's chariots were delivered to the door of every believer." NO!!! Matthew 27:52-53 reveals that the torn veil of Christ's flesh released such a glory from the Father that "the graves opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the grave after his resurrection, and went in the holy city, and appeared unto many." The veil, which was his flesh, (Heb. 10:20) was torn so God could once again restore relationship to His beloved. And the closer we get to His presence the more of His riches we find in Christ.

Ephesians 1:3, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ."
